Forged from passion and fueled by an unyielding spirit, Nakayo is more than a cycling club—it’s a movement. Launched in June 2022 by Mr. Tamim, the club emerged during an intense pursuit of personal KOM (King of the Mountain) records, with the vision to create a professional cycling team rooted in the vibrant campus of Multimedia University (MMU) Cyberjaya.
What began as a shared love for cycling quickly evolved into something greater. Nakayo now represents not just competitive cycling but a deep commitment to cultural and community values, creating a space where passion meets purpose.

Nakayo didn’t just enter the world of cycling—it transformed it. At MMU, where no formal cycling club had existed, it quickly made its mark with an ambitious vision and relentless drive. The team proudly represented MMU in major cycling races and competitive circuits, making history along the way.

The Meaning Behind the Name
The name “NAKAYO” is not just a catchy moniker—it’s a fusion of cultures. Derived from the combination of two Malay words, “NAK” meaning “want” and “KAYUH” meaning “to cycle,”
Nakayo embodies the simple yet powerful desire to cycle. The name, fused into three syllables, mirrors a Japanese aesthetic, reflecting the club’s embrace of both Malay and Japanese cultural
principles. Nakayo is a representation of the commitment, passion, and love for the sport that its members carry.
Embracing the Kaizen Spirit
Nakayo is built on a foundation of continuous growth and self-improvement, inspired by the Japanese Kaizen Principle. This principle, rooted in constant progress, is the driving force behind our mission. In the club, members embrace this philosophy through what’s now known as the Nakayo Principle—a commitment to never settling, always pushing boundaries, and seeking personal and collective advancement.
