CUxCU Kids Cosplexion — The Yosakoi Stage

Who can join: Open to children aged 15 and below. A parent or guardian must accompany every participant on event day and co-sign the registration form.

Entry Fee: RM30 per participant (non-refundable). Limited to 20 slots only — first-come, first-served, subject to entry quality.

Registration Dates:
Opens: 11th April 2026
Closes: 10th May 2026 at 11:59 PM (GMT+8) — or when 20 confirmed entries are received, whichever comes first.

To register: Submit a completed registration form and a photo of your child's cosplay character for our social media spotlight. Slots are confirmed on payment.

CUxCU Kids Cosplexion follows the same runway format as the senior competition — adapted for young performers.

• Check in by 11:00 AM in full costume
• Briefing at 11:30 AM (parents and guardians welcome)
• Each contestant performs:
  • A 360° pose for close-up judging
  • Three character poses (1 minute total)
  • A short Q&A with the judges (2 minutes)

Total stage time: 3 minutes per contestant. Music is provided — no personal tracks needed. Props are welcome: maximum 3 stage props, unlimited handheld. One helper may assist offstage only.

• Costume (50 points): Craftsmanship, accuracy, and visual impact. Judges look at construction quality, detail, and how faithfully the costume represents the character.
• Performance (50 points): Stage presence, character portrayal, and audience engagement. Judges want to see the character come alive — confidence, energy, and connection with the crowd.

• Originality: Costumes that have previously won awards at any cosplay competition — local or international — are not eligible. Fresh entries only.
• Themes: Characters from anime, games, comics, and any creative IP are welcome. Content must be age-appropriate. Offensive or adult-themed costumes are not permitted.
• Size and safety: Costumes must allow free movement and pass a safety check before the show.
• Weapons policy: All prop weapons must be non-functional, non-metal, and blunt. Props are inspected during the pre-show rehearsal. Anything that fails inspection cannot go on stage.

Can a parent or helper go on stage with my child?
Only if necessary. Helpers and parents should support from offstage only. The stage belongs to the contestant.

My child is shy. Is this competition too intense?
The judges and emcee are here to encourage, not intimidate. The Q&A is short and friendly — think of it as a conversation, not an exam.

Does the costume have to be handmade?
No. Bought, commissioned, or handmade costumes are all accepted. What matters is how your child presents it on stage.

Can we use a costume my child wore at a previous event?
Yes — as long as it has never won an award at any cosplay competition. Previously awarded costumes are not eligible.

What happens if registration fills up before 10th May?
Registration closes the moment 20 confirmed entries are received, regardless of the date. Register early to secure your spot.

My child won a prize. How do they claim it?
Winners must be near the main stage during the award ceremony on the same day. Prizes not claimed in person on the day will be forfeited.

CUxCU Kids Cosplexion runs in conjunction with the Miss Yosakoi Pageant at Gurney Plaza, Penang.
